I have not been taking many photos lately, mostly due to the typical New York cold-grey January. So I went digging through my Lightroom archives and decided to focus most of my time on the GRIII folder.
These photos are all from August - November last year, which was the only time I was shooting this camera in color (maybe b&w post coming soon as well). The GRIII is so amazing because I can put it in my pocket and carry it everywhere with me, but I think that’s also led me to think of the photos as being of lesser quality to the ones I take with my film setup - where I’m more purposeful and dedicating time to really taking photos.
But once I take away some of that immediate-ness, and especially once I’m not looking at all the bad photos and duplicates, this camera is so exciting. I certainly can get closer to strangers than I ever would with my rangefinder, I can bring it to new places because it seems like a toy, and I can shoot from really any angle because it’s so light. I feel like this set is a bit more varied in terms of viewpoint than my typical posts.
Nice photos. I've an my eye on one on those for a while but the lack of viewfinders has held me back. I know that you can get attachments for that but still. Maybe one day
I am here for these shots and you seem to be using the GRIII in exactly the way I want to use once I get one, it’s been on my list for a while. I feel like you are making that camera work for you and nothing wrong with having a different style of shooting with different cameras.
